Nissan today announced a new 2009 Nissan Versa Sedan 1.6 model, which features a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $9,990 (excluding Destination and Handling). The new Versa focuses squarely on value and fuel economy, with its standard 107-horsepower DOHC 16-valve 1.6-liter inline 4-cylinder engine delivering responsive performance and a 34 mpg highway fuel economy rating (with the 5-speed manual transmission).

Nissan today unveiled the all-new 2009 Nissan Maxima at the 2008 New York International Auto Show.

The seventh-generation of Nissan’s flagship performance sedan features new exterior and interior designs, along with enhanced performance from a revised 290-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine. The 2009 Maxima goes on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide beginning in early summer 2008.

Nissan also showed a special design concept electric vehicle, the Denki Cube Concept. The Denki (Japanese for “electric”) Cube Concept is based on the current Japan-market Nissan Cube, a small, space- and fuel-efficient urban car. Nissan has announced that a gasoline engine-equipped version of the next-generation Nissan Cube will be available in the United States in 2009.

Also on display at the auto show is the dramatic new 480-horsepower Nissan GT-R supercar, which will be available for the first time ever in the United States beginning in July 2008; the recently introduced 2009 Nissan Murano crossover; and the complete lineup of 2008 Nissan cars, SUVs and trucks.

Nissan North America, Inc. today announced pricing on the all-new, totally redesigned 2009 Nissan Murano crossover with a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) $1,500 lower on all models versus the previous generation.

The all-new, second generation 2009 Murano elevates that unique position with new exterior and interior designs, enhanced technology and a premium driving feel resulting from a new, advanced platform and continued refinement of Murano’s standard 265-horsepower V6 engine (an increase of 25 horsepower over the previous generation) and advanced, second-generation Xtronic CVT(TM).

Nissan will introduce the world’s first Around View Monitor, which offers the driver a bird’s eye view of the vehicle and its surroundings in real-time. In Japan, the Around View Monitor will debut in the new Elgrand, scheduled for introduction at the end of this month. The technology will also be offered to the U.S market on the all new Infiniti EX35 scheduled for launch this December.

The Around View Monitor system sythesizes a bird’s eye image of the vehicle and its surrounding from four ultrawide-angle (180-degree) high-resolution cameras mounted on the front, sides and rear of the vehicle. The Around View Monitor is particularly helpful when parking, enabling the driver to steer easily and precisely into a parking space.

The left side-view is offered with the rear view, allowing the driver to more easily observe both the rear and left-front when attempting to parallel-park. The driver has the option to choose between the top view and the left side-view.

The camera-enabled sensors mounted on all four corners of the vehicle depict the distance to an obstacle in easy-to-understand colored graphics, and help warn the driver via a “beeping” alert the closer the vehicle approaches an fixed obstacle.

The screen displays the view from above on the left, and a front or rear view on the right. The front and rear views alternates according to the gear shift. This allows the driver a comprehensive view of the vehicle and its surrounding environment from all angles.

The all-new 2008 Infiniti EX35, which goes on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide in late December 2007, made its world production debut today on the lawns near the famed Pebble Beach Golf Course’s 18th green.

The Infiniti EX35, the latest addition to the Infiniti lineup, was driven onto a platform by Nissan Senior Vice President and Design Director Shiro Nakamura. Also shown for the first time was the new 2008 Infiniti M sport sedan, which features extensive exterior and interior enhancements, as well as the addition of a new all-wheel drive M45x model.

The all-new 2008 Infiniti EX35 offers the advanced Around View Monitor (AVM) system, which utilizes four small cameras to give the driver a “top-down view” of the outside of the vehicle while parking. The new EX35 also becomes the second Infiniti production vehicle, following the fall introduction of the 2008 Infiniti M, to offer the new Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) system, and the first to feature “Scratch Shield,” a special “self-healing” clearcoat paint.

Nissan has unveiled a new engine technology, Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL), designed to lower carbon-dioxide emissions by up to 10 percent. Nissan officials say VVEL-equipped engines are more fuel-efficient, offer a better acceleration response and provide more power.

Nissan recently unveiled its Altima Coupe during the L.A. Auto Show. The Coupe, Nissan’s seventh Altima model, is a sedan-based two-door model with smaller proportions than its predecessor, the Altima Sedan. The Altima Coupe rides on a 105.3 inch wheelbase, 4 inches shorter than the Sedan, and is 182.5 inches in length, 7.1 inches less than the Sedan. The Coupe is scheduled to go on sale as a 2008 model in the summer of 2007.

Beginning in early 2007, Nissan will enter the hybrid gas-electric vehicle segment with the introduction of the all-new 2007 Altima Hybrid. The alternative fuel vehicle is estimated to have a net power rating of 198 horsepower and has a projected driving range of up to 700 miles between fill-ups. The vehicle, which was introduced at the L.A. Auto Show, has been certified to meet California emissions requirement and will be sold in states that have adopted these prerequisites: California, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.
