The all-new 2011 Ford Fiesta turns up its style quotient this week with the launch of an urban marketing campaign that finds the Fiesta gracing the pages of a custom fashion e-zine that was designed to appeal to the interests of consumers while providing a unique way to highlight the new vehicle and its key features.

Research shows that one of the largest consumer groups in the small car segment are young African Americans and to increase initial awareness of the Fiesta in the African American community, Ford launched a program in April called “Inspired by Color,” which challenged people to use their own personal style to connect with the colors and distinct features of the new Fiesta.

More than 150 people turned out for a casting call at Howard University in Washington, D.C., dressed in a Fiesta-inspired way. Five finalists were chosen at the event and each of them now appears in the new television ad for Ford’s all-new small car.

A custom “Inspired by Color” fashion e-zine was created to highlight the entire program while incorporating key features of the vehicle in a format that is both robust and highly interactive. In addition to a heavy emphasis around the vehicle and its features, all five of the finalists will appear in the e-zine and will have an opportunity to showcase their experience and how the vehicle inspired their personal style.

The entire urban advertising campaign for the new Fiesta was created by The UniWorld Group, Ford’s African American advertising agency of record.

Ford will auction two of the actual KITT Ford Shelby Mustangs used in NBC’s “Knight Rider” pilot at the 6th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event on March 29, 2008, in West Palm Beach, Fla.

The cars, which will be sold to benefit Salute to Education, appeared as Ford Shelby GT500KRs that had been transformed into a “Knight Industries 3000” (KITT) for the show. SPEED will broadcast the sale of the KITT Mustangs live during its auction coverage in the Americraft Expo Center at the South Florida Fairgrounds.

Nintendo announce a partnership with Roush Fenway Racing and NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Greg Biffle. Biffle will debut the Wii-themed Ford Fusion at Watkins Glen in August and then provide an encore performance at Dover’s Monster Mile in September. Nintendo’s partnership with Roush Fenway Racing is the company’s first endeavor with NASCAR and it is excited about the possibilities it brings.

“Partnering with Roush Fenway Racing further demonstrates how Wii is bringing gaming to the masses,” says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “Like going to a NASCAR race, playing Wii is a family event. Everyone can enjoy Wii regardless of his or her gaming knowledge and experience.”

Biffle has one Nextel Cup and two Busch Series wins at Dover International Speedway as well as one Craftsman Truck Series win at Watkins Glen. Biffle looks to improve upon those stats in the Wii Ford Fusion later this season.

“I’m excited about this partnership with Nintendo and the Wii system,” said Biffle. “I just got one myself and I love the boxing game. I’ve always been a fan of boxing and with Wii, it’s a workout. I really get into it. I’ll be driving the Wii car at Watkins Glen and Dover. I’ve got a pretty good record at Dover and I’d love to get the Wii car up front in both races.”
