The LSD door system consists of a specific door hinge which initially opens the factory door 30 degrees outwards, like a common car door and then upwards by the support of a gas shock with minimal effort.
The door opens in 2 steps:
1. Open the door outwards as usual to a maximum angle of approximately 30 degrees. Allowing comfortable access to enter and exit the vehicle.
2. Lift the door after reaching the opening angle of 30 degrees. This is done with ease as the door is supported by the gas shock to an angle of approximately 40 degrees.
The LSD door hinges are installed at the original mounting points of the dismantled factory hinges. A range of adjustability is built into each LSD door hinge for perfect alignment and operation. Additional features also include limits that prevent the doors from being open too far as well as avoiding contact of the rocker panel.

Land Rover North America has teamed up with Architectural Digest and the New York-based design firm Hollwich Kushner (HWKN) to create a one-of-a-kind public art installation, inspired by the aluminum body of the 2013 Range Rover vehicle. The installation is on display now through Sunday, June 9, in New York City’s Meatpacking District.
The public art installation, titled Climbing Up and created by New Yorkfounders Matthias Hollwich and Marc Kushner, incorporate many of the same aluminum materials that make up the 2013 Range Rover vehicle, and features the vehicle through an evocative, interactive experience.
Utilizing aluminum rivet-bonds, the installation’s design is tied to the 2013 Range Rover vehicle’s form, picking up on three distinct lines that define the vehicle’s iconic design. In developing the installation, HWKN used a series of plates to create a triangulated structure spine that supports the car, which will rest at a dramatic angle. The effect, say Hollwich and Kushner, is that the car will seemingly be in motion even as it sits atop the structure.
Land Rover’s media buying agency, Mindshare, teamed the luxury automotive brand up with Architectural Digest who had the relationship with HWKN. The architectural firm then collaborated with partners Neverstop, an experiential agency, and Acer, a Toronto-based fabricator charged with the installation’s construction, to create the structure that was unveiled on June 6 at the intersection of 9 Avenue and West 14 Street in Manhattan. The installation is open to the public from 9 a.m. â€“ 9 p.m. on Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8, and from 9 a.m. â€“ 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 9. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the exhibit socially through tweets and Instagram posts, using the hashtag #LRClimbingUp, that will be shared on flat-screen monitors embedded within the structure.

In the year of its 50th anniversary Automobili Lamborghini is presenting an extremely exclusive model at the Geneva Motor Show 2013. Only three unique units of the Lamborghini Veneno will be built and sold. Its design is consistently focused on optimum aerodynamics and cornering stability, giving the Veneno the real dynamic experience of a racing prototype, yet it is fully homologated for the road. With a maximum output of 552 kW / 750 hp, the Veneno accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and the top speed for this street-legal racing car stands at 355 km/h. It is priced at three million Euros plus tax â€“ and all three units have already been sold to customers.

The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is extending its leading position among super sports cars with groundbreaking technologies â€“ an innovative and extremely fast start/stop system with supercaps for energy storage and cylinder deactivation under partial load bring significant savings in fuel consumption. Plus, the 2013 Aventador comes with a host of new individualization options.
Automobili Lamborghini is using a highly advanced and utterly unique technology for its new start/stop system in the Aventador. The energy for re-start following a stop phase (e.g. at a traffic light) is delivered by high-performance capacitors known as supercaps. They enable extremely fast start-up â€“ full V12 power is available again in a barely detectable 180 milliseconds, significantly faster than with conventional systems. And, in keeping with Lamborghiniâ€™s lightweight design philosophy, this new technology also delivers a weight saving of three kilograms. The classic vehicle battery supplies only the electronic systems, occupies very little space and lasts virtually the entire vehicle life.
The second new efficiency technology is the Cylinder Deactivation System (CDS). Under low load and at speeds of less than 135 km/h, the CDS deactivates one cylinder bank, allowing the power unit to run as an inline six. But with just the slightest movement of the gas pedal, the extreme performance of the V12 engine with its 515 kW/700 hp is back online. The CDS and the start/stop system work incredibly quickly, are virtually imperceptible to the driver and have absolutely no negative impact on the amazing driving experience. Yet, they deliver a noticeable benefit in efficiency â€“ the average fuel consumption of the Aventador LP 700-4 drops by seven percent to 16 liters/100km. At highway speeds of around 130 km/h the reduction in consumption and emissions is as much as 20 percent. In total the CO2 emissions of the Aventador have been reduced from 398 g/km to 370 g/km.
Carbon fiber is a lightweight material that features extensively in the Aventador. A substantial proportion of the super sports carâ€™s technological superiority is thanks to its CFRP monocoque. This material now takes on an even higher profile with a package of optional CFRP components â€“ front spoiler, air intakes, engine cover panel, powertrain cladding and interior applications in CFRP set accents in the Aventadorâ€™s unique design.

The air vents on top of the dashboard will only deploy when instructed to by either the driver or complex control algorithms, staying tucked discreetly out of sight in other circumstances.
