Subaru announced that it is now offering Wi-Fi connectivity for the 2011 Outback crossover SUV model. The new Subaru Mobile Internet system creates a Wi-Fi hotspot inside the Outback giving internet access to 10 or more users for up to 150 feet around the vehicle.

The Subaru Outback redefined the SUV, and offering Wi-Fi connectivity further expands this versatile vehicle’s capability. Operating on the 3G network and working with all Wi-Fi enabled devices, Subaru Mobile Internet provides users a safe, fully encrypted connection with download speeds averaging 400kbps-1.2mbps. This uninterrupted Wi-Fi capability is designed for passenger access while the Outback is in motion.

Subaru Mobile Internet easily allows users to check email, surf the web or listen to Internet radio and even stream video and post to social networking sites. Outback passengers can check weather and traffic, download hiking trails, and even reserve a campsite while they’re on the road. Multiple passengers can simultaneously use the Wi-Fi connection for their separate devices, including Wi-Fi capable laptop computers, netbooks, smart phones, game controllers, plus the new iPad and iPod Touch models.
Subaru Mobile Internet technology is provided by Autonet Mobile, the world’s first in-car Internet service provider. The Wi-Fi service can be added as a port or dealer-installed accessory to any 2011 Subaru Outback for $499, plus a $35 activation fee. A one-year subscription at $29 per month is required, and Subaru is including the first three months of service for free. Comprehensive user support is included through joint Subaru and Autonet Mobile customer service resources. Subaru Mobile Internet is a Genuine Subaru Accessory and is covered under the Subaru of America warranty.
Subaru 2011 Outback price
Starting at $22,995, the 2011 Subaru Outback is offered in a wide range of four- and six-cylinder models. The Outback is smart-sized compared to other two-row crossover vehicles, featuring a mid-size interior in an easy-to-maneuver and off-road capable wagon body. Equipped with the Lineartronic CVT (continuously variable transmission), the 2011 Outback is rated at 29 MPG in highway driving.

TESLA and TOYOTA today announced that the two companies have signed an agreement to initiate the development of an electric version of the RAV4. With an aim to market the EV in the United States in 2012, prototypes will be made combining the Toyota RAV4 model with a Tesla electric powertrain. Tesla plans to produce and deliver a fleet of prototypes to Toyota for evaluation within this year. The first prototype has already been built and is now undergoing testing.

TOYOTA introduced the first-generation Prius hybrid vehicle in 1997. The company also plans to introduce EVs into the market by 2012.
Tesla’s goal is to produce increasingly affordable electric cars for mainstream buyers – relentlessly driving down the cost of EVs. California-based Tesla designs and manufactures EVs and EV powertrain components, and is currently the only automaker in the U.S. that builds and sells highway-capable EVs in serial production.

Lexus, a division of Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc., today announced that it has informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of its intention to file a Defect Information Report (DIR) regarding approximately 138,000 Lexus vehicles, powered by 4.6 and 5.0 liter V8 and 3.5 liter V6 engines in certain 2006, 2007 and 2008 GS, IS and LS models in the U.S. The formal report will be filed the week of July 5.

In the covered vehicles, due to slight variations during the manufacturing process, some foreign material may have contaminated a small number of the valve springs. If a vehicle is affected, there is a remote possibility that abnormal engine noise or idling may occur. In extremely rare instances, the engine may stop while the vehicle is in operation.
Lexus estimates that the likelihood of a customer vehicle experiencing this condition is two-tenths of one percent (0.2 %). Lexus has received no reports of accidents or injuries related to this condition. No vehicles from the current 2010 model year nor 2009 are affected.
Lexus will send owners of the involved vehicles a recall notification via first class mail. Owners are requested to contact their local Lexus dealer for diagnosis and repair after receiving their notification. The repair will involve replacement of the engine’s valve springs at no charge.
Owners can continue to drive their vehicles. If symptoms are noticed, such as vibration, rough idling, unusual engine sounds or poor performance, the vehicle should be brought to a Lexus dealer for service.

Tesla Motors announced Roadster 2.5, the latest generation of its revolutionary electric sports car. It will debut simultaneously with the opening of Tesla’s two new stores in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Newport Beach, California.

The new Roadster includes improvements in both design and technology, including a new front fascia, rear diffuser, improved seat comfort and internal finishes, sound dampening and a large touchscreen navigation system.
New features in Roadster 2.5 include:
* A new look, which includes a new front fascia with diffusing vents, and rear diffuser reflecting the future of Tesla design
* Directional forged wheels available in both silver and black
* New seats with improved comfort, larger more supportive bolsters and a new lumbar support system
* Power control hardware that enables spirited driving in exceptionally hot climates
* An optional 7” touchscreen display with back-up camera
* Improved interior sound reduction including new front fender liner material make the cabin even quieter
Tesla is launching the new Roadster with an online image gallery.
Tesla will unveil the new Roadster at its two newest stores in Copenhagen and Newport Beach, CA. Customers, prospective customers and other guests will celebrate the opening of the newest stores this evening.
The enhancements in the Roadster 2.5 are the direct result of accumulated customer feedback. Subaru of America, Inc. today announced pricing for the 2011MY Subaru Impreza (non-turbo) models. Pricing for the 2.5i, 2.5i Premium and Impreza Outback Sport are held to 2010 model year levels.
Subaru of America continues to enjoy record sales after its best-ever sales year in 2009, with sales up 40 percent year-to-date. The Subaru Impreza is also showing a sales increase year-to-date due to its unique blend of fun-to-drive performance, safety and functionality with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive technology. The Impreza has been an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick for three consecutive years, making it an unmatched value in the compact vehicle segment. The 2011 Subaru Impreza is scheduled to arrive at dealerships in July.
Subaru Impreza 2.5i
The well-equipped Impreza 2.5i maintains an aggressive starting price of $17,495, with the 5-door available starting at $17,995. All naturally-aspirated Imprezas come with Subaru’s 2.5-liter SOHC horizontally-opposed boxer engine with i-Active Valve Lift System. This engine puts out an impressive 170 hp @ 6,000 rpm.
All Impreza models feature the active safety of Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Vehicle Dynamics Control and Brake Assist as standard equipment. Two new colors for the 2011MY, Marine Blue Pearl and Sky Blue Metallic, expand the color selection, while Newport Blue is phased out.
Subaru Impreza 2.5i Premium
The Impreza 2.5i Premium maintains its starting price of $18,495 — the 5-door is $18,995. The 2.5i Premium trim level adds alloy wheels, a leather wrapped shifter and steering wheel and audio control switches on the steering wheel.
The audio system for the 2.5i Premium and Outback Sport models is upgraded for the ’11MY and now includes standard Bluetooth Audio Streaming, Bluetooth Hands-Free Connectivity, standard USB port with iPod control capability, a single-disc CD Player with MP3/WWA capability and six upgraded speakers.
The Special Edition Package on the Impreza 2.5i Premium is renamed the Power Moonroof Value Package for the ’11MY and still includes the All-Weather Package, fog lights and power moonroof for just $500, a retail value of $1,850 resulting in a generous $1,350 discount.
Subaru Impreza Outback Sport
The Outback Sport maintains its attractive starting price of $19,995 and includes items such as standard 17-inch alloy wheels, raised suspension, fog lights, All-Weather Package and a cargo tray among its many upgraded features.
New for the 2011MY, Camellia Red Pearl and Sage Green Metallic will be offered as monotone exterior colors on the Outback Sport. Obsidian Black two-tone, Marine Blue two-tone and Steel Silver two-tone complete the Outback Sport color line up.

The all-new 2011 Ford Fiesta turns up its style quotient this week with the launch of an urban marketing campaign that finds the Fiesta gracing the pages of a custom fashion e-zine that was designed to appeal to the interests of consumers while providing a unique way to highlight the new vehicle and its key features.

Research shows that one of the largest consumer groups in the small car segment are young African Americans and to increase initial awareness of the Fiesta in the African American community, Ford launched a program in April called “Inspired by Color,” which challenged people to use their own personal style to connect with the colors and distinct features of the new Fiesta.
More than 150 people turned out for a casting call at Howard University in Washington, D.C., dressed in a Fiesta-inspired way. Five finalists were chosen at the event and each of them now appears in the new television ad for Ford’s all-new small car.
A custom “Inspired by Color” fashion e-zine was created to highlight the entire program while incorporating key features of the vehicle in a format that is both robust and highly interactive. In addition to a heavy emphasis around the vehicle and its features, all five of the finalists will appear in the e-zine and will have an opportunity to showcase their experience and how the vehicle inspired their personal style.
The entire urban advertising campaign for the new Fiesta was created by The UniWorld Group, Ford’s African American advertising agency of record.
